“Gukanne viasny” [calling for spring to come] is an ancient Belarusian rite. This year, it acquires a new meaning – it should awaken not only nature, but also the hearts of Belarusians.

Belarusians responded to the detention of pensioners who read books by Belarusian writers on the train with a flash mob – now, books in their native language are read by everyone and everywhere.

The trial of journalist Katsiaryna Barysevich and physician Artsiom Sarokin, thanks to whom it became known that the murdered Raman Bandarenka was sober, ended in a guilty verdict. Katsiaryna received 6 months in prison and will be released from prison in May; the physician was sentenced to one year’s probation and released in the courtroom. The awful truth is that, understanding the unfairness of the sentence, people were happy, because the prosecutor had asked for 3 years in prison for the accused.

Lukashenko says now and then that he has neither “palaces” nor “billions”. Perhaps this is how he prepares for the report of the US Congress, in which all his assets will be made public (the 90 days allotted by the Bill of Democracy in Belarus for identifying these assets will soon expire). Or, Lukashenko is aware that Stsiapan Putsila and his team are preparing to release the film, “The Golden Bottom” – about the “family silver” of Lukashenko and his family. Spoiler: the film has been released and has already become the record holder of Belarusian YouTube. We hope that the report of American specialists will be no less exciting.
