“Metal can be cut down. Our people – never!” This performance is a protest in memory of the “Eiffel Tower” on the playground, which was cut down by city services. Minsk residents have repeatedly repainted this tower in white-and-red colors.

Lukashenko spoke about “the creation of a NATO military grouping” to seize Belarusian lands

Today, at a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Alexander Lukashenko said: “The world is once again on the verge of unleashing an uncontrolled arms race. The most dangerous phenomena, namely the military confrontation between the world centers of power, are escalating. Serious concern is caused by the buildup of the military presence of the United States and NATO near the western borders of the CSTO. We clearly see an increase in systemic military measures on the territory of Poland and in the Baltic states”.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin clarified during the summit that a number of other disturbing tendencies are observed in the case of Belarus. “This is not what worries – what worries is really outside interference, financial support, information support, political support, and so on,” Putin explained.

The authorities put pressure on the athletes who signed the letter against violence, and are clumsily trying to take countermeasures

Today it became known that Artur Udrys, a member of the Belarus national volleyball team, and Mikita Klimovich, a member of the Belarus Greco-Roman wrestling team, the silver medalist of the European Championship, did not get their contracts renewed. These athletes openly expressed their position and signed a letter from athletes calling for an end to the violence and a new election (at the moment it has been signed by 1,250 people).

As a response, a letter from pro-government athletes appeared.

Today, a list of those who signed the letter was posted – at first there were 55 names. However, some athletes soon announced that they had not signed a letter in support of the Belarusian authorities. And some of the people from this list were completely uninvolved in sports.

Justice in Belarusian style: man pushed away enforcer on a protest march – two years in the colony. Boy throws a snowball at a police car – a criminal case

Resonance got another case with the police: a criminal case was opened for a 16-year-old boy under the traditional Article 342 – “Participation in group activities, grossly violating public order”.

The security officials reported that they had detained a teenager for throwing a stone at a police car. However, witnesses to the event claim that the guy threw not a stone, but a snowball.

On 2 December, a resident of the city of Vitebsk was sentenced to two years in a general regime colony – he pushed a security officer away at a protest march. The convict admitted that he inflicted one “traumatic action” to the body of a policeman equipped with protective ammunition. However, he denied accusations of active participation in an unsanctioned mass event and obstruction of the actions of the security officers.

It should be noted that since 9 August, Belarus has not opened a single criminal case for violence against detainees, no criminal case has been opened concerning the death of Raman Bandarenka after getting beaten up by the police, and no criminal cases have been opened concerning other murders during the protests.
